with no restorations or repairs.
Potted by the most famous of the toby
producers Ralph Wood, this model has all
the typical characteristics that is expected
from this extremely talented potter.
The impurities in the glaze highlights the
wonderful glaze textures that Ralph Wood
produced. no restorations.

A super north country toby of "Leeds"
type with good traditional features. He is
modelled with a barrel at his feet and a pipe
at his side. Rich translucent running glaze,
nice colouring and crisply moulded. This is
an early period toby holding a redware little
jug on his knee.

A Victorian "Staffordshire Blue" model of
Rodney's Sailor.
Pearlware base and good enamel colouring,
his cobalt under-glaze blue coat characteristic
of the pottery produced in the 1870-90
period. Rodney sits on a chest with an anchor
at his feet. A contemporary copy of a
Ralph Wood original but still a great toby and
unusual/ rare to find.
A collection of these "blues" tobies are most
attractive to see.
Very fine hairline under base.
